Four new animations about the move to the new pension system

Geplaatst op 3 June 2026

The new pension scheme brings some significant changes. To make them easy for everyone to understand, we’ve created four short animations. Each one covers a different part of the transition. You can watch them whenever it suits you, as often as you like.

Why animations?

The new pension scheme works differently from what you’re used to. From a fixed entitlement to a personal pension pot, a survivor’s pension that shifts from build-up to risk insurance, and new choices for you to make ‘ these are big changes. An animation explains it visually. You can literally see how it works. That makes it easier to take in than a wall of text.

And the bonus: you watch at your own pace. Want to see something again? Just rewind. Not a good time right now? Save the link and watch later. The animations stay online.

What can you watch?

We’ve made four animations. Together they give you a complete picture of what the transition means for you.

  • Animation 1: Building up and converting your pension (approx. 2 minutes)
This animation explains how your pension builds up under the new scheme. You’ll learn what a personal pension pot is and how contributions are invested. You’ll also see how converting works: how your existing pension entitlements are moved across to the new scheme. And how we make sure this happens fairly for everyone. This animation is relevant for all members.
  • Animation 2: Choices in the new pension scheme (approx. 1 minute)
The new scheme brings a number of choices your way. For example, which risk profile suits you? And after you retire, would you prefer a fixed or a variable pension? This animation gives you insight into the choices you can make and shows that you’ll get help along the way. Especially useful for active members.
  • Animation 3: Your pension payments after retirement (approx. 1 minute)
Already retired? Then this animation is for you. You’ll learn what the transition means for your current pension payments. These will become variable, but you’ll receive an increase first. And there’s a buffer in place to help smooth out any fluctuations. You’ll also see that you can choose to move to an insurer if you’d rather have a fixed payment.
  • Animation 4: Death and your loved ones (approx. 1 minute)
What happens to your partner if you pass away? This animation explains what changes under the new scheme. The survivor’s pension will still be there, but it works differently. Instead of building up over time, it becomes a risk-based insurance that applies while you’re employed. The animation also shows you what to look out for and what you can check yourself. For active and former members.

Where can you find them?

All four animations are on the project website: nieuwrobecopensioen.nl. There you’ll also find more information about the move to the new pension system.
